For one small business posting to about 5 accounts, a free plan on Buffer, Publer, Metricool or Pallyy covers the basics, and paid plans run from $10 to $30 a month, with Hootsuite at $99 per user. LotsSocial fits if you want the AI agent you already use to connect your accounts and do the posting. I checked every tool below on its own pages on 29 October 2026.

A small business needs a scheduler that is cheap at 3 to 10 accounts, easy for one person or a small team, and not built around enterprise features. These ten tools differ on four things: how they count what you pay for (accounts, brands, social sets or seats), what is free, how many people can use the plan, and whether an AI agent can work in it.

## How to choose

- **How many accounts do you post to?** A shop on Instagram, Facebook, Google Business and LinkedIn is 4 accounts. Tools that price per account get cheaper the fewer you connect. Tools that price per brand or social set count your whole business as one.
- **Who posts?** If it is you, a single-user plan is enough. If a teammate or freelancer joins, check seats: some plans include one user and charge for more.
- **What else do you want in the same tool?** A shared inbox, analytics, link in bio and evergreen recycling are built into some schedulers and absent from others.
- **Do you work in ChatGPT or Claude?** Several schedulers now have an MCP server, which lets your agent schedule for you. What differs is whether the agent can also add your accounts.

Monthly billing at list prices, checked on 29 October 2026, except Hootsuite (per user, billed annually). LotsSocial's $10 is $2 per connected account on pay as you go. Metricool counts brands, and one brand holds a business's networks. Publer's totals come from its account selector at 5 accounts.

## 1. LotsSocial

**Fits:** founders, marketers and social managers who already work in ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Muse and want that agent to run the business's social accounts.

LotsSocial connects your social accounts to ChatGPT, Claude, Muse or any compatible AI agent to schedule and publish posts across 12 networks, handle each platform's requirements, and track how your posts perform. You add one URL, `https://api.lots.social/mcp`, and sign in through your browser.

- **Your agent connects the accounts.** Ask it to add Instagram and it gives you a secure link. You approve on the network's own page and the agent confirms the account. The link works for all 12 networks, including Google Business, Pinterest and Reddit. More in [how to connect your social accounts to your AI agent](https://blog.lots.social/connect-social-accounts-to-ai-agent).
- **Draft, schedule or publish now.** Your agent saves drafts, schedules for a time, or publishes right away after you confirm the text and accounts. A week of posts goes in with one bulk call of up to 50. Every post is checked against each network's rules first: caption and title limits, required media, size, format and video length.
- **Results you can read.** Your agent reads follower counts with 7-day and 30-day change, post analytics and a brand's top posts, where each network shares them.
- **A full dashboard too.** Composer, calendar, bulk scheduling, media library, analytics, brands and team access are all in the app. Your agent for speed, the dashboard for control.
- **Pricing by connected account.** Five accounts are $10 a month on pay as you go. Starter covers 12 accounts for $20, Pro covers 40 for $59 and Business covers 150 for $149, with two months free yearly. Posts, media storage, brands, workspaces and team members are unlimited, so adding a teammate or a freelancer does not change the bill. Pro and Business include LotsNotes Pro. The full breakdown is in [LotsSocial pricing explained](https://blog.lots.social/lotssocial-pricing-explained).

New accounts get free credits when they sign up, no card, enough to run 2 accounts for about a month. [See pricing](https://lots.social/pricing).

**Choose it if** you want your agent to handle the whole job, including adding accounts, you have a teammate or two, and you would rather pay for accounts than for seats. If you want a shared inbox, link in bio or evergreen recycling inside the scheduler, the tools below include them.

## 2. Buffer

**Fits:** a small business that wants the simplest start and a free plan.

Buffer's Free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel, 1 user, a community inbox and 100 ideas. Essentials is $6 a month per channel, so 5 channels is $30, with unlimited scheduled posts, advanced analytics and first-comment scheduling, still for 1 user. Team is $12 a month per channel for the first 10, and adds unlimited team members, approval workflows and access levels. Paid plans have a 14-day trial. Buffer runs a remote MCP server, and most AI tools connect to it over OAuth with no API key. Your agent reads your channels, schedules and edits posts and pulls analytics; you add the channels in Buffer. The head-to-head is in [LotsSocial vs Buffer](https://blog.lots.social/lotssocial-vs-buffer), and more options are in [Buffer alternatives for founders and small teams](https://blog.lots.social/buffer-alternatives).

## 3. Publer

**Fits:** small teams that want a low price per account and a deep feature list.

Publer's Free plan covers 3 accounts (no X) with 10 scheduled posts per account. Professional is $20 a month for 5 accounts and $48 for 12 on monthly billing. Business is $35 for 5 and $84 for 12, and it is the plan with the MCP server and API (OAuth or an API key). Team members are added in the price selector. See [LotsSocial vs Publer](https://blog.lots.social/lotssocial-vs-publer).

## 4. Metricool

**Fits:** a business that wants analytics and reports next to scheduling.

Metricool prices by brand, and a brand holds your networks, so one business on several networks is one brand. Free covers 1 brand with 20 scheduled posts a month, without LinkedIn or X. Starter is $25 a month for up to 5 brands, with unlimited publishing, a LinkedIn connection, competitor analysis and PDF and PPT reports. Advanced is $67 for up to 15 brands and adds team and client management, roles and a post approval system. Its MCP server works on every plan, Free included.

## 5. SocialPilot

**Fits:** a small team that wants accounts, seats and a social inbox in one plan.

Essentials is $20 a month for 5 accounts and 1 user. Standard is $40 for 10 accounts and 3 users, with bulk scheduling and a social inbox; extra accounts are $4 each and extra users $5. Every plan has a 14-day trial with no card. Its MCP server is included on every plan: sign in from Claude or ChatGPT, and your agent can create and schedule posts and save drafts when review is needed.

## 6. RecurPost

**Fits:** a business with a library of evergreen posts that should keep going out.

Personal is $25 a month for up to 5 accounts and 1 user, and RecurPost describes it as for a small business or freelancer. Starter is $9 for 2 accounts. Extra accounts are $4 a month each. Its strength is recurring scheduling and content libraries, and every self-serve plan has a 14-day trial with no card.

## 7. Later

**Fits:** a visual brand that plans its feed around Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest.

Later sells social sets, each holding one profile on each supported network (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat). Starter is $25 a month billed monthly, or $18.75 billed yearly, for 1 set and 1 user, and includes link in bio. Growth is for 2 sets and 2 users, with approvals and a social inbox. Both have a 14-day trial.

## 8. Pallyy

**Fits:** one business that wants a free start and one flat price for all its networks.

Pallyy counts a social set, which holds up to 11 accounts. Free is 1 set with 15 scheduled posts a month, image posts only, no card. Pro is $25 a month for 1 set and 1 user, with unlimited posts, video and carousels, client and team approvals, an inbox and link in bio pages, after a 14-day trial. Its MCP server is on every plan, Free included.

## 9. Postiz

**Fits:** a business that wants a long network list or to run the software itself.

Postiz is $29 a month for 5 channels, $39 for 10 with unlimited team members, and $49 for 30. Every plan includes its MCP server, CLI and API, after a 7-day trial. Postiz also publishes a self-hosted edition under AGPL-3.0, which you install and maintain yourself. See [LotsSocial vs Postiz](https://blog.lots.social/lotssocial-vs-postiz).

## 10. Hootsuite

**Fits:** a larger small business that needs inbox, listening and publishing for several people.

Hootsuite is priced per user and billed annually: Standard is $99 a month for up to 10 accounts, Professional $199 for unlimited accounts, and Advanced $399 adds approvals. It runs MCP servers that connect to ChatGPT and Claude. For one person posting to a few accounts it costs more than the rest of this list.

Post Bridge is another agent-ready option aimed at one person marketing a business: $39 a month for 15 accounts on its pricing page, checked on 29 October 2026. I compared it in [Post Bridge alternatives](https://blog.lots.social/post-bridge-alternatives) and [LotsSocial vs Post Bridge](https://blog.lots.social/lotssocial-vs-post-bridge).

## If you run the social yourself as a business owner

You do not need a seat plan to post for one business. Pay as you go is $2 per connected account per month, charged daily for the accounts you hold, so a business on 4 networks pays about $8 a month, with nothing extra for posts, storage or a teammate you add later. Your agent writes and schedules, drafts never publish on their own, and you can check every post in the dashboard's calendar. The free plans from Buffer, Publer, Metricool and Pallyy cost nothing for up to 3 accounts or 1 brand, and they are the right start if that is all you need. LotsSocial fits when you want your agent to do the posting. [Pick your agent's guide](https://lots.social/agents).

## If you run social for clients

If you post for several small businesses, per-seat plans get expensive fast. LotsSocial has no seat charge, and its tools for client work are:

- **Client connect links.** Your agent creates a link for a client, who connects their own accounts without a LotsSocial login. It lasts up to 7 days, its URL is shown once, and you can list or revoke links later.
- **Client approval by link.** Save posts with approval requested and send the client one link. They approve or reject each post with an optional comment. A post waiting or rejected never publishes, and your agent can ask for approval but never approves for the client.
- **Brands and workspaces.** Both are unlimited, and so are team members. Business covers 150 accounts for $149 a month.

Details are in [how to let clients connect their own accounts](https://blog.lots.social/social-media-management-for-agencies-client-connect). Pallyy (per client set) and SocialPilot Premium are the main tools built around clients.

## Common questions

### What is the best social media scheduler for a small business?

It depends on your account count and who posts. For one business on about 5 accounts, Buffer, Publer, Metricool and Pallyy have free plans, and paid plans cost $10 to $30 a month: LotsSocial $10 on pay as you go, Publer and SocialPilot $20, Metricool, RecurPost, Later and Pallyy $25, Postiz $29 and Buffer $30. LotsSocial is the pick if you want your AI agent to connect your accounts and post for you.

### Is there a free social media scheduler for small business?

Yes. Buffer Free covers 3 channels, Publer Free covers 3 accounts (no X), Metricool Free covers 1 brand with 20 posts a month, and Pallyy Free covers 1 social set with 15 scheduled posts a month. LotsSocial gives new accounts free credits when they sign up, no card, enough to run 2 accounts for about a month.

### How much does a social media scheduler cost for a small business?

At 5 accounts on monthly billing it ranges from $10 to $30 a month on this list, and Hootsuite is $99 per user. Tools that charge per account or per channel, like LotsSocial, Buffer and Publer, cost less when you connect fewer accounts. Tools that charge per brand or social set, like Metricool and Pallyy, give you one price for all your networks.

### Which scheduler works with ChatGPT or Claude?

Several do. LotsSocial, Metricool, SocialPilot, Postiz and Pallyy include an MCP server on every plan, Publer has it on Business, Buffer runs an MCP server, and Hootsuite connects to ChatGPT and Claude. With LotsSocial your agent can also connect the accounts, while with Buffer and Postiz you add channels in their apps first.

### Do I need a team plan if a freelancer helps me post?

It depends on seats. LotsSocial includes unlimited team members on every plan. Buffer's Essentials has 1 user and unlimited members start on Team at $12 per channel. SocialPilot Standard has 3 users for $40 a month, and Postiz includes unlimited members from $39.

### Can I schedule Google Business and Pinterest posts?

With LotsSocial, yes: Google Business and Pinterest are among its 12 networks, and your agent sets the board and title for Pinterest on each post. Check each other tool's network list before you buy, because they differ.
