You can schedule a Reddit post from your AI agent with LotsSocial. Connect your Reddit account once, then ask your agent to schedule the post and name the subreddit, the title and, if the community requires one, the flair. LotsSocial checks the post, saves it for the time you give, and your agent reads back the result. Reddit's moderators still decide what stays up, so the subreddit's own rules come first.

Most social networks need a caption and a time. Reddit needs three more things on every post: where it goes, what it is called, and often a flair. This guide covers each one, what LotsSocial checks, and the one step your agent cannot do for you today.

## What your agent sends for a Reddit post

A Reddit post in LotsSocial takes a caption, a time, and a `platform_fields` object with a `reddit` entry:

```json
{
  "platform_fields": {
    "reddit": {
      "subreddit": "yoursubreddit",
      "title": "How we cut invoicing time in half (and what we got wrong)",
      "flair_id": "FLAIR-ID",
      "flair_text": "Discussion"
    }
  }
}
```

| Field | Needed | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `subreddit` | Yes | The community, written without `r/`. If your agent adds `r/`, LotsSocial strips it |
| `title` | Yes, but see below | Up to 300 characters. If you leave it out, LotsSocial uses the first line of the caption |
| `flair_id` and `flair_text` | When the community needs a flair | The flair on the post |
| `nsfw`, `spoiler` | No | Marks the post |

The caption is the body of the post. For Reddit, LotsSocial accepts a caption of up to 40,000 characters.

## Subreddit: where the post goes

Write the community name without `r/`. LotsSocial refuses a name that is not a valid community name, and it refuses a Reddit post that has no subreddit at all. It does not know whether the community exists or what its rules are, so that check is yours: read the subreddit's rules before you ask for the post, and pass them to your agent.

## Title: you only get one

A Reddit post needs a title, and LotsSocial's tools state that a Reddit title cannot be edited after posting. So the title is the part to read twice. Your agent can set it in the `title` field. If it does not, LotsSocial takes the first line of the caption, so a caption that starts with a good headline still works.

Give the title the same care the subreddit's rules ask for. Many communities have title formats, and LotsSocial's own Reddit guidance for agents says titles should be plain, specific and honest, with no clickbait and no all-caps.

## Flair: the field your agent cannot look up

Many communities remove posts that have no flair, and each community has its own list. In the LotsSocial dashboard, the composer shows a Flair picker. Type the subreddit and the picker loads that community's post flairs, so you choose one from a list. It sits next to the Subreddit and Title fields, with Mark as NSFW and Mark as spoiler checkboxes.

Your agent has no tool that lists a community's flairs. It can set `flair_id` and `flair_text` if it already has them, but it cannot fetch them. Two routes work:

1. **Agent drafts, you pick the flair.** Ask your agent to save the post as a draft with the subreddit, title and body. Open the draft in the dashboard, pick the flair from the list, and schedule it there or tell your agent to schedule it. The subreddit and title your agent saved are already filled in when you open it.
2. **You give the agent the flair.** If you already have the flair ID, include it in your request and the agent passes it.

One more thing to know. LotsSocial's check does not know whether a community requires a flair. A post with no flair can pass the check and still be removed by the community, so treat flair as part of the rules you read first.

## Text, link or image post

LotsSocial publishes Reddit text, link, image and gallery posts. Which one fits is the community's call.

- **Text post:** the caption is the body. This is the default.
- **Link post:** pass a link with the post and it goes to Reddit as the link. Many communities restrict links, so check the rules.
- **Image or gallery post:** attach media from your library. LotsSocial checks the file format and size before the post is saved.

## Schedule it from your AI agent

Connect LotsSocial to your agent once with `https://api.lots.social/mcp` (the setup for each agent is in [how to connect your social accounts to your AI agent](https://blog.lots.social/connect-social-accounts-to-ai-agent)). If your Reddit account is not connected yet, your agent calls `get_connect_link` for Reddit and gives you a link. You open it, sign in on Reddit and approve. Your agent then confirms the account with `list_connected_accounts`.

Then ask in plain words:

> Schedule a text post on Reddit for Thursday 5 November at 9:00 IST in r/yoursubreddit. Title: "How we cut invoicing time in half (and what we got wrong)". Body is below. First check the post with validate_social_post, and do not schedule it until I have read the title.

Your agent runs `validate_social_post`, shows you the result, and on your yes calls `create_social_post` with `scheduled_time` and the `reddit` fields. The time must be at least five minutes ahead. LotsSocial's queue checks every few minutes, so the post goes out near the time you set, not at the exact minute.

Afterwards ask your agent to check the post with `get_social_post`. A scheduled post is not published until its logs say so, and a Reddit post that Reddit's moderators later remove is outside LotsSocial's control.

Want it out now instead? Your agent shows you the exact text, subreddit and title, and only after your yes does it use `publish_now`.

## What I ran

I ran `validate_social_post` against a connected Reddit account. This only checks a post; nothing was saved, scheduled or posted. Fictional text throughout.

| What I sent | Result |
|---|---|
| A scheduled post with no Reddit fields | Refused: "A subreddit is required for Reddit posts" |
| The same post with `"subreddit": "r/example_sub"` and a title | Passes every network rule. The `r/` prefix is accepted |
| `"subreddit": "bad name!"` | Refused: "bad name! is not a valid subreddit name. Use the name without r/, for example smallbusiness." |
| A valid post with no flair | Passes. The check does not know the community's flair rules |

`get_account_details` on the same account returned a `posting_fields` block that lists the fields above, so your agent can read what to pass instead of guessing.

## Rules to read before you schedule

LotsSocial's Reddit guidance for agents, which your agent can read with `get_platform_playbook`, treats Reddit as a set of moderated communities, not a broadcast channel. These are the points that matter most for scheduling:

- Each community's rules apply, and the stricter of the sitewide and community rules wins. Your agent should stop and ask if the subreddit or its rules are unknown.
- If the community bans or limits self-promotion, write a value-first post or do not post.
- Say so when the post involves your own product, employer or client.
- No hashtags. Use the flair and plain language.
- Links are high-risk. One relevant link, only if the community allows it.
- Do not send the same promotional post to many communities.

No scheduler can promise a post stays up. Moderators and automated community rules can remove a post that follows every LotsSocial check, so the rules you read are what protects it.

## Several subreddits, or several posts

Reddit fields are set per post. To post to two communities, make two posts with their own subreddit, title and flair. If one post goes to several Reddit accounts, you can key `platform_fields` by connected account ID, and that account's fields win over the shared ones. For a batch, `bulk_create_social_posts` saves up to 50 drafts or scheduled posts in one call, with `platform_fields` shared by the batch or set per post.

## What it costs

Each connected Reddit account counts as one connected account. Without a plan it is $2 per connected account per month, charged daily from credits. With a plan, Starter covers 12 accounts for $20 a month, Pro covers 40 for $59 and Business covers 150 for $149 (prices checked on 31 October 2026). Posts, media storage, brands, workspaces and team members are unlimited. New accounts get free credits when they sign up, no card, enough to run two connected accounts for about a month. See [LotsSocial pricing explained](https://blog.lots.social/lotssocial-pricing-explained) for the full picture.

## If you manage Reddit for several brands

Put each brand's accounts in its own brand and pass `brand_id` when your agent posts, so one brand's post never goes to another's account. A client can connect their own Reddit account through a client link, with no LotsSocial login, and you can ask a client to approve a post by link before it goes out. The steps are in [social media management for agencies](https://blog.lots.social/social-media-management-for-agencies-client-connect).

## FAQ

### Can I schedule Reddit posts from an AI agent?

Yes. With LotsSocial your agent schedules a Reddit post for a time you choose, with the subreddit, title and flair set on the post. LotsSocial checks it against its rules first and the post goes out near the scheduled time.

### What does a scheduled Reddit post need?

A connected Reddit account, a subreddit (without `r/`), a title of up to 300 characters, and a caption for the body. Add a flair when the community requires one.

### Can my AI agent pick the flair?

It can pass a flair if it already has the flair ID, but it has no tool that lists a community's flairs. The dashboard composer lists them once you type the subreddit, so the easiest route is to have your agent save a draft and pick the flair there.

### Can I edit the title after it posts?

LotsSocial's tools say a Reddit title cannot be edited after posting, so check it before the post goes out.

### Will a scheduled post be removed by moderators?

No tool can promise that. Each community's moderators decide what stays, so read its rules, use the flair it asks for and disclose your own product when you mention it.

### Do I need a Reddit API key?

LotsSocial's Reddit setup asks for no key. It gives you a link to connect your Reddit account, and you approve it in your browser.
