LotsSocial vs Postiz: Which Is Better for Posting From Your AI Agent?

LotsSocial and Postiz both let an AI agent schedule social media posts over MCP. The difference is who each one is built around. LotsSocial is built for people who use an AI agent: your agent signs in, connects your accounts, schedules and checks results, and you either pick a simple plan or pay per account you connect. Postiz is a full scheduling app with its own AI image and video tools, 30+ networks and a self-hosted option, sold in monthly tiers.

If you run social media from Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, LotsSocial is the better fit. If you want a standalone scheduler app with built-in creative tools, or you want to host it yourself, look at Postiz.

Everything about Postiz below comes from its own website and documentation, checked on 7 October 2026, with links at the end.

Where LotsSocial is the better choice

Your agent does the whole job, including account setup

With LotsSocial, you add one URL to your agent and sign in through your browser. That's it. In Claude Code it's one command:

claude mcp add --transport http lotssocial https://api.lots.social/mcp

Then /mcp, Authenticate, Allow. There's no API key to copy into a config file. Here's the full Claude Code walkthrough with screenshots, and the ChatGPT version.

Postiz signs in with OAuth too: its Claude and ChatGPT connectors install in one click, and a custom link works in other clients. You can also use an API key, either in the server URL or as a Bearer token, which stays valid until you rotate it. So sign-in is similar. The difference starts after you're signed in.

Your agent can connect your social accounts

This is the part people don't expect. Ask your agent to connect LinkedIn, and LotsSocial gives it a secure link. You open it, approve on LinkedIn's own page, and your agent can confirm the new account straight away. The link works for an hour and can connect several accounts in one visit.

Postiz's MCP tools list accounts and schedule posts, but connecting a channel happens in the Postiz app. Its own docs list "connect a channel for you" under what its AI agent cannot do. So with Postiz, your agent takes over once you've finished setting up in the app. With LotsSocial, the agent can handle setup too.

Simple plans, or pay per account

LotsSocial gives you two ways to pay. Plans cover a block of accounts for a fixed price: Starter is 12 accounts for $20 a month, Pro is 40 for $59 and Business is 150 for $149, with two months free if you pay yearly. Go over your plan and each extra account costs your plan's own per-account rate: $1.67 a month on Starter, $1.48 on Pro and $0.99 on Business. Or skip the subscription and pay as you go at $2 per connected account per month from credits, charged daily for the accounts you hold. Posts, media storage, brands, workspaces and team members are unlimited.

Postiz plans tier on the number of channels. Here's what each costs per month at monthly prices:

Accounts you connectLotsSocialPostiz
3$6 (pay as you go)$29 (Standard)
5$10 (pay as you go)$29 (Standard, no team members)
12$20 (Starter)$49 (Pro, since Team stops at 10)
20$33.36 (Starter + 8 extra at $1.67)$49 (Pro)
40$59 (Pro)$99 (Ultimate, since Pro stops at 30)
150$149 (Business)No plan (Ultimate stops at 100)

A solo founder with five accounts pays about a third of Postiz's entry price, and a growing brand on 12 accounts pays less than half. Past 100 accounts Postiz has no plan at all, while LotsSocial Business covers 150 for $149, with extra accounts at $0.99 each.

For most people running their own accounts, or a few brands, the difference is large. You're never pushed into a bigger tier because you added one more account: on a plan, extras cost your plan's own rate, and the bigger the plan, the cheaper each extra.

Free to try, no card

New LotsSocial accounts get 5,000 free credits, valid for 90 days, without a card. That's enough to run two connected accounts for a month. Postiz has no free plan. Its 7-day trial needs a payment method and charges it on day 7 unless you cancel. During the trial, Postiz also holds back video clipping and some AI video tools.

Built-in checks for every network

LotsSocial checks every post against the account it's going to before saving it: caption limits per account (a free X account and a Premium one get different limits), required media for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, and media formats. Where it can, it creates a compatible version of your image or video, and keeps your original untouched. When something is wrong, your agent gets a clear error it can fix and retry.

Postiz gives agents each platform's posting rules through a schema tool, which is useful. LotsSocial enforces its checks when the post is saved, so problems surface while you're still in the conversation.

Your whole team, on every plan

Team members are unlimited on LotsSocial with no per-seat charge, whether you're on a plan or paying as you go. Postiz's entry Standard plan doesn't include team members at all; you need Team ($39) or higher.

What Postiz offers

More networks. Postiz lists 30+ destinations, including Discord, Telegram, Slack, Medium, Dev.to and WordPress. LotsSocial covers 12: LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit and Google Business. If you need a community channel like Discord or Telegram, Postiz covers it. If your audience is on the major social networks, both have you covered.

Built-in AI images, video and clipping. Every Postiz plan includes monthly credits for AI images and videos, plus minutes for turning long videos into short clips. That's handy if you want it inside the scheduler. But you pay for those allowances whether or not you use them, and if you already work in Claude or ChatGPT, your agent is doing the writing anyway. LotsSocial doesn't charge you for a second AI on top of the one you use.

Self-hosting. Postiz is open source under AGPL-3.0, and you can run it on your own server. For a team that wants full control, that matters. The catch, from Postiz's own docs: you run the server, keep it updated, and register your own developer app with each network you want to post to. Several networks require one, and some networks review apps before they can post publicly.

Which one should you choose?

Choose LotsSocial if:

  • You already draft content in Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent, and want that agent to publish it.
  • You want your agent to handle setup too: sign in, connect accounts, schedule, check what went live.
  • You want a simple plan, or prefer to pay per account with no subscription.
  • You want to try it today without a card.

Choose Postiz if:

  • You want a standalone scheduling app with its own AI image, video and clipping tools.
  • You need networks LotsSocial doesn't cover, such as Discord or Telegram.
  • You want to self-host and are happy to maintain the server and developer apps.

Common questions

Is LotsSocial a Postiz alternative?

Yes, if you mainly post from an AI agent. Both connect over MCP and schedule posts across the major networks. LotsSocial is built around the agent, from sign-in to connecting accounts, with simple plans or pay-per-account pricing.

Does Postiz have an MCP server?

Yes. Postiz offers an MCP server with tools to list accounts, schedule posts and generate images and video. You sign in with OAuth through its Claude and ChatGPT connectors or a custom link, or use your Postiz API key in the server URL or as a Bearer token.

Can I use LotsSocial with ChatGPT and Claude?

Yes. LotsSocial works with ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and any client that supports remote MCP servers. There's also a REST API for scripts.

Is LotsSocial cheaper than Postiz?

For most people, yes. Five accounts cost $10 a month on LotsSocial's pay as you go, against $29 for Postiz's Standard plan, and 12 accounts cost $20 on LotsSocial's Starter plan against $49 on Postiz. Extra accounts on a LotsSocial plan cost your plan's rate. Media storage is free on LotsSocial.

Can I self-host LotsSocial?

No. LotsSocial is hosted, so there's no server to run and no developer apps to register with each network.
