LotsSocial vs Metricool

LotsSocial vs Metricool

LotsSocial and Metricool both give your AI agent an MCP server, but they are built around different jobs. LotsSocial prices per connected account and lets your agent connect accounts, check a post against each network's rules, then schedule it or publish it right away on 12 networks, including Reddit and Mastodon. Metricool prices per brand and is a full analytics and ads dashboard that your agent can read and schedule from.

Metricool is the better pick if reports, competitor tracking and ad campaign data matter as much as posting, or if one brand carries many networks and you want a flat price for the bundle.

Everything about Metricool below comes from its own pricing page, its MCP page and its home page, checked on 30 October 2026, with links at the end.

What it costs

LotsSocial charges for the accounts you connect. Starter covers up to 12 accounts for $20 a month, Pro covers 40 for $59 and Business covers 150 for $149, with two months free if you pay yearly. Without a plan it is $2 per connected account per month, charged daily. Posts, media storage, brands, workspaces and team members are unlimited. Pro and Business also include LotsNotes Pro. The full breakdown is in LotsSocial pricing explained.

Metricool charges for brands. Free covers 1 brand. Starter is $25 a month for up to 5 brands ($20 billed yearly) and $45 for up to 10. Advanced is $67 a month for up to 15 brands ($53 billed yearly), $107 for up to 25 and $210 for up to 50. LinkedIn comes with Starter, and the X add-on is $10 a month per connected account.

Here is what one business pays on monthly billing, at list prices:

What you runLotsSocialMetricool
1 brand on 3 networks, none of them LinkedIn or X$6 (pay as you go)$0 (Free, 20 scheduled posts a month)
1 brand on 5 networks, including LinkedIn$10 (pay as you go)$25 (Starter)
4 brands on 3 networks each (12 accounts)$20 (Starter)$25 (Starter, up to 5 brands)

Because Metricool counts brands, its price grows more slowly than a per-account price when each brand carries many networks. Count your brands and your networks, then price both.

Where LotsSocial is the better choice

Your agent connects the accounts

Ask your agent to connect LinkedIn and LotsSocial gives it a secure link. You open it, approve on LinkedIn's own page, and the agent confirms the new account with list_connected_accounts. The link works for an hour and can connect several accounts in one visit, on any of the 12 networks. The whole flow is in how to connect your social accounts to your AI agent.

The tools on Metricool's MCP page cover brands, analytics, scheduling, editing scheduled posts and reading each network's posts. I found no tool there for connecting a new account, so you add accounts in the Metricool app first.

A check before anything is saved

Your agent can dry-run any post with validate_social_post. It checks caption and title limits per account, required media, file format and size, and video length and aspect ratio before the post is saved, and the dashboard composer runs the same checks. For a week of content, bulk_create_social_posts saves up to 50 drafts or scheduled posts in one call.

X and LinkedIn are in the price

Every LotsSocial plan includes all 12 networks. On Metricool, the Free plan leaves out LinkedIn and X, Starter adds LinkedIn, and X is an add-on at $10 a month per connected account.

Reddit and Mastodon

LotsSocial posts to Reddit, with the subreddit, title and flair set per post, and to Mastodon. I did not find either on Metricool's site or MCP page. Metricool lists Twitch, which LotsSocial doesn't cover.

Approval, roles and unlimited teammates on every plan

Team members, brands and workspaces are unlimited on every LotsSocial plan, with roles from viewer to admin, and there is no per-seat charge. On Metricool, team and client management, role management and the post approval system are listed under Advanced.

What Metricool offers

Analytics and reports. Metricool is built around measuring. Its pricing page lists unlimited analytics history on Starter, PDF and PPT reports, customizable report templates and a Data Studio connector on Advanced, and a paid hashtag tracker. If your Monday starts with a report, that is the product.

Competitors and ads. Free analyzes 5 competitor profiles and Starter up to 100. Its MCP can read Meta Ads, Google Ads and TikTok Ads campaign data and competitor posts, so you can ask Claude how paid and organic did in one chat. LotsSocial doesn't run paid ads.

A wider dashboard. Metricool lists an inbox for messages, multiple link-in-bio pages, Flows for DM automation, and Google Drive and Canva integrations. Its MCP can also return the best time to post for each network.

A free plan. Free covers 1 brand across its networks except LinkedIn and X, with 20 scheduled posts a month and 30 days of analytics. The MCP works on it.

An open source MCP. Metricool's MCP server is public on GitHub and published on PyPI, with setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, ChatGPT in Developer Mode, Mistral Le Chat, Make, n8n and Gemini CLI.

For agencies and client work

If you post for clients, LotsSocial gives each client their own brand or workspace. get_connect_link with purpose: "client" makes a link a client opens to connect their own accounts without a LotsSocial login. The link lasts up to 7 days and its URL is shown once. For approvals, your agent saves posts with request_approval: true and makes an approval link, the client approves or rejects each post with no login, and a post that is waiting or rejected never publishes. Your agent can ask for approval but never approves for the client. Social media management for agencies walks through it.

Metricool's Advanced plan ($67 a month for up to 15 brands) lists team and client management, roles and an approval system, and its pricing page doesn't say how a client signs in. If client reports and ad data are what you deliver, that plan is built for it.

Which one should you choose?

Choose LotsSocial if:

  • You work in ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want your agent to connect accounts, validate and schedule or publish.
  • You post to Reddit or Mastodon.
  • You want X and LinkedIn in the account price.
  • You work with a team or clients and want unlimited members, roles and approval by link on every plan.

Choose Metricool if:

  • Analytics, PDF reports and competitor tracking matter as much as posting.
  • You want ad campaign data next to your organic results.
  • You run several brands with many networks each and want one price per brand.
  • You want a free plan for one brand and don't need LinkedIn or X.

Moving from Metricool to LotsSocial with your agent

You can keep Metricool connected while you move. Add both MCP servers to your agent, or give it this to set up LotsSocial:

Read https://lots.social/skill.md and help me connect LotsSocial for you.

Then ask:

List my brands in Metricool with get_brands and my queued posts with get_scheduled_posts. For each brand, create a LotsSocial brand with create_brand and get me a connect link for the same networks with get_connect_link. When I've approved them, run list_connected_accounts. Then check each queued post with validate_social_post and save it as a LotsSocial draft with create_social_post on the matching account, with the same text and time. Use bulk_create_social_posts for batches. Show me the list before you schedule anything.

Your agent reads the Metricool side through its MCP and writes the LotsSocial side with LotsSocial's tools. For posts with images or video, it can store each file in LotsSocial from its link with upload_media first. Once you've checked the drafts, ask it to schedule them and clear the old ones from your Metricool queue.

New LotsSocial accounts get free credits when they sign up, no card, enough to run 2 accounts for about a month. See pricing, compare other tools on lots.social/compare, or try LotsSocial for free.

Common questions

Does Metricool have an MCP server?

Yes. Metricool's MCP server is at https://ai.metricool.com/mcp and works with any Metricool plan, Free included, within that plan's limits. You sign in with OAuth or with a user token and user ID from your account settings. LotsSocial's MCP server is at https://api.lots.social/mcp, on every plan.

Is Metricool cheaper than LotsSocial?

It depends on your brands and networks. One business on 5 networks including LinkedIn is $10 a month on LotsSocial pay as you go and $25 on Metricool Starter. Twelve accounts across 4 brands is $20 on LotsSocial Starter and $25 on Metricool Starter. Metricool's Free plan costs nothing for 1 brand, without LinkedIn or X, and per-brand pricing grows more slowly when each brand carries many networks.

Can my AI agent connect accounts in Metricool?

The tools on Metricool's MCP page cover brands, analytics, scheduling, editing scheduled posts and reading posts per network, and I found no tool for connecting an account, so you add accounts in the Metricool app. With LotsSocial, your agent gets a connect link for any of the 12 networks, you approve on the network's own page, and the account appears in your list.

Does Metricool post to Reddit or Mastodon?

I did not find either on Metricool's site or MCP page, which list Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, Twitch, Google Business, Bluesky, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn. LotsSocial posts to Reddit and Mastodon, with LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Google Business, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest and Bluesky.

Is there a free Metricool alternative with MCP?

LotsSocial gives new accounts free credits when they sign up, no card, enough to run 2 accounts for about a month, with MCP and REST included. After that it is $2 per connected account per month with no plan, or $20 for up to 12 accounts on Starter. Metricool's Free plan also includes MCP, for 1 brand with 20 scheduled posts a month and no LinkedIn or X.

Which is better for agencies, LotsSocial or Metricool?

Metricool Advanced has team and client management, roles, an approval system and report templates, from $67 a month for up to 15 brands. LotsSocial has client connect links, client approval by link and unlimited team members on every plan, priced by connected account. Choose Metricool if client reports and ad data are the deliverable, and LotsSocial if you want your agent to connect client accounts and run approvals.
